Medical Plans

Symantec offers comprehensive medical insurance plans that provide you with flexibility to meet the changing benefits needs of you and your family. Symantec offers two national competitive Aetna Plans, the Aetna Open Access Plan and the Aetna HealthFund with a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). In both plans you may visit any licensed physician or healthcare facility for treatment, but by utilizing in-network providers it reduces your out of pocket cost.

HMO health care coverage is also available to employees in two of our U.S. locations.

Dental Plan

Symantec offers three competitive MetLife Preferred Dentist Program (PDP) dental plans. You may visit any licensed dentist for treatment but by using a network dentist your out of pocket cost is reduced. Plans provide coverage for preventative, routine, major, and orthodontic work.

Vision Plan

Symantec offers two competitive vision plans administered by Vision Service Plan (VSP). Both plans provide benefits for frames, contact lenses and computer vision care. The 2.0 Plan provides for more frequent and increased benefits.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Symantec recognizes that individuals need time off from work to recover from illness, handle family emergencies, or take care of personal business. Symantec also encourages employees to take vacation time to "recharge."

Symantec employees accrue 17 to 22 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) annually, based on length of service. There is no distinction between "personal/vacation" and "sick" hours - the use of your paid time is from the same pool.

Holidays

Symantec provides nine paid holidays per year, plus two floating holidays chosen by you for a total of 11 paid holidays per year.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Symantec offers its employees the ability to set aside pre-tax dollars, up to $5000 each, in both a Health Care FSA and a Dependent Care FSA.

Symantec offers a variety of reward and recognition programs via manager-nominated awards and employee-nominated awards. Symantec believes that rewarding and recognizing employees who demonstrate behaviors, values, and actions that go "above and beyond" provides Symantec with the opportunity to shape behavior and performance toward achievement of business goals.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

Eligible employees may purchase Symantec stock twice a year, on designated purchase dates, at a discounted price through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Through the plan, employees may elect payroll deductions from their pay to be deferred for the purchase of this stock. The purchase price of the stock is 85% of the fair market value at the end of the purchase period (February 15th or August 15th, or the first business day prior).

Stock Options

All regular employees in eligible salary grades receive stock options as part of the new hire benefit package. Stock options are generally priced at the fair market value of the stock as of the close of market on the date of your grant, and with regard to non-US stock option grants, as required under applicable rules and regulations of foreign jurisdictions.

401(K) Savings Plan

The Symantec 401(k) provides a convenient way for you to save and invest for the future, and reap valuable tax advantages.by offering investment programs designed to help you build a secure financial future. In the Symantec Corporation Section 401(k) Plan, the company matches 50 cents for every dollar you contribute - up to 6% of your eligible pay. The maximum company match is $6,000 each year. You may contribute up to 50% of your eligible pay on a pre-tax basis, up to the annual IRS limit. If you are age 50 or older, you may make additional "catch-up" contributions above the annual IRS limit. Investment options in the Plan provide a diversified range of investment choices for Plan participants. They include funds in 12 different asset classes, plus three pre-mixed asset allocation funds. Symantec and Schwab partner together to provide you top-notch educational tools on various retirement topics.

Paid Parental Leave

Symantec is committed to helping our employees and their families lead healthy and satisfying lives and offer two weeks Paid Parental Leave to its employees-parents. Parental leave is available to fathers of a newborn, as well as parents of a newly adopted or newly placed foster child.

Income Replacement

Symantec's disability plans preserve a portion of your income if you are unable to work as a result of illness, injury or pregnancy. Short-term disability coverage is provided to employees. Week 1 – utilize your PTO; weeks 2-8 receive 100 percent of your pre-disability earnings (including commissions); weeks 9-26 receive 75 percent income replacement. Long-term disability is available at 66 2/3 percent or 66 2/3 percent post-tax of your base salary (including commissions) up to a maximum benefit of $15,000 per month.

Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

Symantec provides employees with Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D) at two times base salary (including commissions) to a maximum death benefit of $1,500,000. Supplemental life and AD&D insurance is also available. Symantec provides Business Travel Accident Insurance at up to three times your eligible compensation to a maximum of $1,000,000.

Dependent Life Insurance

Spousal and Domestic Partner Life Insurance is available from $10,000 to $150,000. Evidence of insurability is required at certain levels. Child life insurance is available from $2,500 to $25,000.
